Happy New Year.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing warmth and support.

Last year marked the 10th anniversary of our activities in Myanmar.
Looking back, I was deeply moved by the dedication of our Myanmar staff and local partners who continue to foster hope and a brighter future for children and communities—despite the uncertainty of daily life and the future under ongoing political instability and conflict.
Even in such dire circumstances, where children are present, we adults must do what we can. This is our responsibility and mission.
(Mid-term Strategic Planning Meeting)
This year marks the beginning of a new phase for SVA.
Our previous six-year mid-term plan (2019–2024) has concluded, and from this year we embark on a new six-year strategy. In preparation, all of our staff—both in Japan and abroad—have reflected on our past activities and held deep discussions about how we can contribute to a more just and peaceful society.
We reaffirmed the importance of continuing our activities centered on the values we have cherished since our founding: peace, living together, and nurturing the power to live.
We also recognized that these principles are more important than ever in today’s complex and turbulent world.
The challenges we face are increasingly diverse and complex. However, the library-centered activities that SVA has long promoted have proven to be adaptable and relevant—no matter the era or context—continuing to support and stay close to people and children in meaningful ways.

The expressions of children opening the pages of a picture book—their focused attention during storytime—are universal across all regions and countries.
And after the story ends, the gentle smile that appears on their faces—that smile, in turn, brings hope and healing to the adults around them as well.

Your support brings smiles to countless children.
This year as well, we hope to continue our efforts together with you, to bring joy and opportunity to as many children as possible.
