Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA)’s 40th establishment Renewal of the organization’s logo and the establishment of a special 40th establishment logo

Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) (Location: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President Kyoei Wakabayashi, hereinafter referred to as “SVA”) celebrated its 40th establishment on Thursday, December 10, 2021. We are pleased to announce that we have renewed our organization’s logo to reflect our continued commitment to the realization of the SVA philosophy of “living and learning together”.

New LOGO

Thoughts on the New Logo

From its inception, SVA has believed in the power of books. This means that we want children who find hope from even one book will be able to open up their own futures. The logo is imbued with the hope that the seeds of books that we have sown will eventually sprout and flower. It also embodies SVA’s philosophy of “live together, learning together” and the educational and cultural outreach through books that SVA has been protecting.
※We will gradually switch to the new logo for all products and websites.

Meaning of 40th establishment logo

To celebrate the 40th establishment, we made a special logo.

The 40 grains of seeds on 40th anniversary logo expresses the SVA 40years history. It links with the sprout of SVA new logo. These logos will reconfirm that SVA spread the seeds for sprout in the life of each persons.

Each seed has different shape and means the effort, hardship and ingenuity in each year and continuation of our careful activities.

A Message from SVA’s President; Kyoei Wakabayashi

Daily activities are connected to everything else. “Live together, learning together “is a simple expression of the Buddhist philosophy of “karma” in the spirit of Buddhism. The name of our organization, Shanti, expresses the idea that each of us should live in connection and support each other. Keep this in mind while working together as one to make sure we all do our best in All SVA. Let’s move forward step by step, aiming for the next 10 to 20 years.

A Message from SVA’s Secretary General; Eri Yamamoto

For nearly 40 years, SVA has been working to improve the quality of education and reading promotion systems in Asian countries such as Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. Access to education is clearly a human right. Education entails more than just learning to read and write; it also imparts the skills we need for life. At SVA, we collaborate with those who want to make a better world. Working with children caught in difficult circumstances, we seek the ultimate goal of creating a peaceful society.
