Launch of Train Poster Featuring “Delivering Picture Books” on Tokyu Toyoko Line Posters displayed inside train cars from April 1, 2025, for approximately one year

PressReleases

Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA), a Public Interest Incorporated Association based in Shinjuku, Tokyo (President: Kyoei Wakabayashi), began displaying posters introducing its Delivering Picture Books campaign inside Tokyu Toyoko Line trains on April 1, 2025. The posters will be placed above the train windows and remain on display for about one year.

The poster aims to raise awareness of the Delivering Picture Books campaign, which is now accepting participants for FY2025.
Tokyu Toyoko Line is used by a wide range of passengers, including commuters and families. To leave a lasting impression, the poster features children holding picture books—specifically, a girl from Afghanistan and a boy from Myanmar—symbolizing the joy of reading and the hope that books can bring.
We hope this initiative will reach not only those already familiar with international cooperation but also people who may be new to such activities.

As a Japan-born NGO working in both international and domestic contexts, SVA has long been committed to supporting education, culture, and emergency humanitarian aid. Through initiatives like Delivering Picture Books, which allow people to engage in international cooperation from home and within Japan, we continue striving to realize a peaceful society where people live and learn together.

About Delivering Picture Books

Since 1999, SVA has been delivering picture books from Japan to children living in difficult environments, hoping to bring them the excitement of discovering new worlds, the joy of stories and language, and the thrill of being immersed in books.
Through picture books, children gain the power to face challenges and nurture the strength to shape their future.

The Delivering Picture Books campaign involves pasting translated text stickers in local languages onto Japanese picture books and sending them to countries in Asia where books are scarce.
Since its launch in 1999, the campaign has been widely supported by individuals, companies, and organizations as an easy and meaningful way to participate in international cooperation.
